1Combine puffed rice, toasted peanuts, black sesame seeds, and white sesame seeds in a large heatproof bowl. Mix gently and set aside.
2In a heavy-bottomed pot, combine malt syrup, granulated sugar, water, and salt. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the granulated sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer.
3Continue to cook the syrup without stirring too much, until it reaches a thick, sticky consistency. A good test is to drop a small amount into cold water; it should form a soft, chewy ball. This usually takes about 8-12 minutes.
