Slice the Onions very thinly and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Add Salt to the sliced Onions and mix well. Let the Onions rest for 15 minutes to release their moisture.
To the bowl with Onions, add Gram flour, Rice flour, Green chili, Ginger, Curry leaves, Fresh cilantro, Asafoetida, Cumin seeds, and Red chili powder.
