1Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
2Prepare the caramel: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Cook over medium heat without stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns into a rich amber caramel. This typically takes 8-10 minutes. Do not let it burn.
3Carefully pour the hot caramel into a 20-23 cm (8-9 inch) round flan mold or Bundt pan, tilting the mold to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
