1Crush the jaggery into smaller pieces to help it melt faster.
2In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine the crushed jaggery and water. Heat on medium flame, stirring continuously until the jaggery melts completely and forms a smooth syrup.
3Strain the jaggery syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean pan to remove any impurities. Discard the impurities.
