1Rinse sweet red beans thoroughly and soak them in water for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
2Drain the soaked sweet red beans, place them in a pot with fresh water covering them by about 2 cm, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until the sweet red beans are very soft, about 1-1.5 hours. Add more water if necessary to keep them submerged.
3While the sweet red beans are cooking, finely chop the chestnuts and remove the seeds from the jujubes, then finely chop the jujubes.
