1Remove the stems and seeds from the dried guajillo chiles and dried arbol chiles.
2In a medium pot, heat the lard over medium heat. Briefly fry the guajillo chiles and arbol chiles for about 15-20 seconds per side until aromatic, being careful not to burn them. Remove the chiles from the pot and set aside.
3In the same pot with the remaining lard, add the chopped white onion and garlic cloves. Sauté until the white onion is softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
