2Drain the soaked dried split fava beans and transfer them to a heavy-bottomed pot. Cover with fresh cold water by about 2-3 cm. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, skimming off any foam that rises to the surface. Add 2 grams of salt. Simmer gently, partially covered, for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the dried split fava beans are extremely tender and begin to break down. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
