1Wash the masoor dal thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the masoor dal in 200 grams of water for 15 minutes.
2Drain the soaked masoor dal and transfer it to a cooking pot. Add the remaining 400 grams of water, turmeric powder, and salt.
3Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the masoor dal is soft and cooked through. Mash a few lentils lightly with the back of a spoon to achieve a slightly creamy consistency.
