Rinse urad dal and 5 grams of fenugreek seeds together thoroughly. Soak them in 300ml water for 6 hours.

Rinse idli rice thoroughly. Soak it separately in 500ml water for 6 hours.

After soaking, drain the water from the urad dal and 5 grams of fenugreek seeds. Grind them into a very smooth, fluffy batter using a wet grinder or powerful blender, adding minimal water (about 100ml) as needed.
