1Rinse the red beans thoroughly under cold water, then place them in a large bowl and cover with fresh cold water. Soak the red beans for at least 8 hours or overnight.
2Drain the soaked red beans. Transfer the red beans to a pot, add fresh water to cover, bring to a boil, and boil for 5 minutes. Drain this initial boiling water and rinse the red beans again.
3Return the red beans to the pot, add 750g of fresh water, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40-50 minutes, or until the red beans are very tender and easily mashed.
