1Wash the Arhar dal thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the Arhar dal in 400 grams of fresh Water for 30 minutes.
2Drain the soaked Arhar dal and transfer it to a pressure cooker. Add 600 grams of Water, Turmeric powder, and half of the Salt. Close the lid and cook for 3-4 whistles on medium heat, or until the dal is soft and mushy.
3Once the pressure releases naturally, open the cooker and mash the cooked Arhar dal lightly with a spoon or whisk to achieve a smooth consistency. Set aside.
