Cut the Mochi into bite-sized pieces, approximately 2cm cubes.

In a small saucepan, combine the Koikuchi soy sauce, Mirin, Sugar, and Water. Heat gently over low heat, stirring until the Sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.

Heat the Vegetable oil in a deep pot or wok to 170-180°C (340-350°F).
