1Rinse the Urad dal thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
2Drain the soaked Urad dal completely. In a wet grinder or food processor, combine the drained Urad dal, Green chili, and Ginger. Grind to a thick, coarse batter, adding only a tablespoon or two of water if necessary to aid grinding, ensuring the batter remains very thick and fluffy.
3Transfer the Urad dal batter to a large mixing bowl. Add the finely chopped Curry leaves, Asafoetida, Cumin seeds, coarsely crushed Black peppercorns, chopped Fresh cilantro, and Salt. Mix everything well with your hands, whisking for a few minutes to incorporate air and make the batter light.
