1Dice the white onion, mince the garlic cloves, and finely dice the jalapeño. Roughly chop the fresh cilantro and crumble the queso fresco.
2Heat the unsalted butter in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the diced white onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
3Add the minced garlic cloves and diced jalapeño to the pot. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
