1Rinse the carob pods thoroughly under cold running water. Break each carob pod into 2-3 pieces by hand or using a sturdy knife.
2Place the broken carob pods into a large pot. Add 2000 grams of water, the cinnamon stick, and the whole cloves to the pot. Cover and let the carob pods soak for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight, at room temperature.
3After soaking, bring the pot with the carob pods, water, cinnamon stick, and whole cloves to a boil over medium-high heat.
