1For the Idli batter: Rinse Urad dal and Fenugreek seeds thoroughly and soak in water for at least 4 hours. Rinse Idli rice and soak separately for at least 4 hours.
2Drain the soaked Urad dal and Fenugreek seeds. Grind them in a wet grinder or high-speed blender with minimal water until a very smooth and fluffy batter is formed.
3Drain the soaked Idli rice. Grind it separately to a slightly coarse, rava-like consistency, adding water as needed.
