1Wash the cucumbers thoroughly. Place each cucumber on a sturdy cutting board and use the flat side of a cleaver or a heavy object to firmly smash them until they crack open and are slightly flattened.
2Cut the smashed cucumbers into irregular bite-sized pieces, approximately 3-4 cm long. Place the cucumber pieces in a colander, sprinkle with 5 grams of salt, and let them sit for 15 minutes to draw out excess water.
3While the cucumbers are draining, peel and finely mince the garlic. Thinly slice the scallion for garnish.
