1Prepare the ingredients: Finely dice the red onion and mince the garlic clove. Crush the San Marzano tomatoes by hand or with a fork. Pick the leaves from the fresh basil.
2Heat a large skillet or pan over medium heat. Add the extra-virgin olive oil.
3Add the diced red onion to the pan and sauté gently until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
