Wash the basmati rice thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the basmati rice in 150 grams of water for 30 minutes. Drain the water completely.

In a heavy-bottomed pot or pressure cooker (without lid), combine the drained basmati rice and 200 grams of Milk. Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the basmati rice is partially cooked and the Milk is mostly absorbed.

Add the remaining 1300 grams of Milk to the pot. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to the lowest setting.
